We were missing a couple of regulars; however, Charlie McHenry (of former tech networking group SOGGY) joined us to fill-out the table.
After we started getting acquainted with Charlie, Mercedes arrived and was surprised to encounter Charlie—who happens to be her uncle!
We had a general chat about technical issues: AI applications, ChatGPT features, Mercedes’ online Boston University class on Fundraising that she recently completed, achieving high marks, Jon’s commentary on self-driving big rig trucks, and more of Glen’s commentary on Left Brain/Right Brain vs. AI. All-in-all, a great chat session.
Charlie has offered to let me post his History Of Tech In Southern Oregon essay. HistoryOfTechInSO. What a great summary!
In addition to Charlie’s essay, you are invited to visit the link to Rogue Tech Talks on the RogueTechHub.com website where I document Southern Oregon Tech Networking events over the two-and-a-half decades that I’ve lived in Southern Oregon; these include SOGGY, CocoaHeads, and the series of Tech Talks at SOU (after-hours presentations on topics of interest to students in order to introduce them to real-world applications for their upcoming degrees) which I launched while finishing up my degree at SOU. Priscilla Oppenheimer was a Professor on staff at the time, and she took over the Tech Talks at SOU Series after I graduated.
More AI in the news: Heres a link from Cognitive Carbon that provides an interesting perspective on AI and how it’s power is being generally underestimated.
You are invited to attend the no-host Rogue Tech Hub Dinner Meetings on the First Thursday of each month; currently being held at Outback Steakhouse in Medford, starting at 6:30 p.m. Please email Karen to be included on the broadcast list that includes RSVP instructions.
